This is an excellent analysis! As you pointed out, there can be excesses on both sides regarding how to defend against COVID. As Dr. Damania points out on his channel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DItZ2ntOzrY, 600+ public health docs and other providers signed a petition to prevent Dr. Leana Wen from speaking at a national pubic health event about backlash against public health. The petition’s claims are really ludicrous.
On the other hand, conservatives and libertarians have cost this country thousands of lives with their mask and vaccine misinformation. Perhaps on Biden’s first day in office he should have publicly thanked Donald Trump for his Operation Warp Speed that enabled us to get COVID vaccines so quickly. Give Trump credit where credit is due, and thus woo more conservatives/libertarians to embrace vaccination.
